I agree. However, playoff games cannot be planned in advance. So every team has to reserve a stadium for each playoff weekend, which costs 💶, even may be impossible as soccer schedules are not known until July.

That is probably why they decided to go with four spots again. Next year six or eight spots are definitely necessary. Wild card week could work well (would imply only one potential play off home game per team)

For Kings being best second, they need to win all games, Thunder needs to loose all games, Raiders need to lose all games but vs Thunder, Galaxy needs to loose all games but vs Raiders and either Dragons or Centurions need to end up on second place in Southern Conference
